Sabrina Jimenez
Senior Program Manager, Family Engagement
Sabrina is charged with implementing PowerMyLearning’s Online Family workshops, participating in the development and review of program materials for virtual and in-person delivery, and managing PowerMyLearning’s partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library’s “Student Learning Zones” initiative.
Sabrina has spent years working in multiple capacities with a diverse population of students and families in Pasadena, Los Angeles, Oakland, Hayward, and San Francisco. Her pedagogy and training are trauma-informed and culturally sustainable, centering students’ and families’ lived experiences within the curriculum to provide a safe space for critical analysis, reflection, healing and transformation.
She carries with her years of community advocacy and program development through various organizations both within and beyond the scope of academia, such as the People’s Education Movement, Bay Area and Hermanas Unidas, Inc.
Prior to teaching, Sabrina attended UCLA where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Chicanx Studies. She then pursued her Master’s in the Art of Teaching: Urban Education and Social Justice from the University of San Francisco’s School of Education.
